Luis Mendez
Luis Vargas went from a fisherman to a jewel when he moved from Pescadero in Northern California to La Jolla in San Diego about a decade ago, to better himself through higher education and a new city. Although he studied aerospace engineering, he has since diversified and works as a civil project manager, a trainer for the National Conflict Resolution Center, and director for a U-13 Youth Sports League.
As a young professional, Luis worked in this field for two years helping manage civil renovation projects around the city and occasionally rapid prototyping for project research. At the NCRC, he delivers training about conflict management and professional development. Luis loves to plant these seeds in the minds of college students, youth, and multilingual communities. This is also reflected in his work teaching children soccer and making the sport approachable for all ages.
