Melissa Fisher is a senior strategic healthcare marketing professional at Kaiser Permanente and a dedicated caregiver advocate. Her advocacy began in 2018 following her father’s diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia and deepened in 2023 after her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. That same year, Melissa also became the legal representative for her aunt. By 2024, she was simultaneously caring for all three family members while working full-time and being a mom to two young adults.
Melissa is actively engaged in state and national advocacy, focusing on policies that strengthen support, benefits, and protections for caregivers, as well as the rights of individuals with dementia and long-term care residents and their representatives, having successfully helped pass two pieces of state legislation.
She has served for the past eight years as the Oregon State Ambassador for the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), supporting families affected by dementia. At Kaiser Permanente, she founded Care Partner Care, an HR-endorsed workforce wellbeing community that is available to more than 12,000 employees and physicians, offering resources, connection, and peer support.
